whythis exsists?

A note from our Founder

I started The Unsaid Project because of the people I know. So many of them have a story like this. Most have never said it out loud. Some have carried it for decades, quietly, while living full lives around it.

This project is personal. I'm a survivor of sexual assault. It happened when I was in high school, and I kept it locked away for years. I'm speaking about it for the first time, right here, right now. If I can say it, so can you. And when you're ready, someone will be listening.

I didn't want to build something that asks anyone to stand on a stage or say their name. I wanted a place where people could finally say it, safely, from wherever they are, and know that someone would listen. And a place where the rest of us could show up, and be a support system for all those impacted by sexual assault.

If you've never told anyone, this is for you. Whenever you're ready.

Help her be heard.

The Unsaid Project is free to visit, and it always will be. Your gift keeps the story line open, brings the exhibition to new cities, and supports the people who help survivors every day.

Where your gift goes. Proceeds support survivors through the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center, which offers a 24/7 hotline, free counseling and legal advocacy, and RAINN, which runs the National Sexual Assault Hotline.

Other ways to help

  • Host the exhibition in your city, gallery or building.

  • Sponsor a station in honor of someone you love.

  • Spread the word so women who need the story line can find it.
